In Spanish?

Today Amy was eating M&M's (n-n-n's as she says.) In the middle of talking about them she said to herself, "In Spanish? n-n-n's." LOL!

We sometimes try to get her to speak Spanish. So we'll say "In English, [fill in the blank], in Spanish?" She doesn't often humor us and tell us the Spanish word, but still we try. Especially her aunt, Burns. Burns loves that game.

I laughed so hard about Amy's translation of M&M's.

Happy Anniversary to Us!

I was thinking today how I often read on blogs posts about it being the couple's anniversary. But rarely have I read about the couple's super-fun date they went on to celebrate. Matt and I make a big deal about our anniversary (although many other holidays don't get as much attention from us as most.) So we went on a super fun date. Thanks to the Rowens and the Nelsons SO MUCH for watching our girls today so that we could play!

We started the morning with a game of golf. Might sound weird, but we enjoy golfing together, and it is becoming a bit of a tradition. The only 3 times I've golfed in my life (besides putt-putt) are on our honeymoon, our second anniversary, and today (4 years!) Because we only go on such romantic days, and because we get to be by ourselves in a beautiful quiet place, I find golfing totally romantic and enjoyable. (It helps that Matt has no problem with the fact that I am REALLY bad at golfing. We just laugh. He knows enough to help me and teach me vocabulary (which I forget in between each time we play.) But neither of us worry too much if we do bad. Matt got par on one whole, and we did a victory dance.

Next came family pictures - another anniversary tradition. Another big thanks goes to my googalie, Emma, and her husband, James for coming down to do our photo shoot. I had no idea that Matt had arranged with them to come. We LOVED the pictures Emma took at THE and Melissa's wedding and were excited to have her do ours. Yay! (We'll post pictures as soon as we get them - obviously.)

Lunch at Artic Circle as a treat for Amy for being obedient during the photo shoot. She had fun playing on the slide.

Family Flop is one of my favorite parts of any day, and we all crashed after lunch. How marvelous.

Matt and I enjoyed dinner at Gloria's Little Italy in Provo. It was delightful and charming. Not too many people were there - that was nice - and our waitress was engaged. We were excited for her. Oh, and the food. Delicious. Great place!

Before picking up our kids, we did our annual, Where-We-Are-Now-and-Where-We-Think-We-Will-Be-By-Next-Anniversary tradition. We never really intended to make this a tradition at first, but one year we just started talking about the predictions we had for the upcoming year before our next anniversary. That was 2 or 3 years ago. This year we decided to write everything down. We talk about our family, the things our kids will be able to do, callings, where we will live/ work. We love talking about who in the family we think will be pregnant the next year. (We don't take ourselves too seriously, and we're just guessing really. I remember last year that we predicted that this year things would be pretty much the same for us (with the exception that Noel would be outside my tummy instead of inside.) As far as the big things - where we live, where Matt works, day-to-day life, it is pretty similar. I changed callings; Matt didn't. Some unexpected things happened in our lives this year; it makes me wonder what is to come. I predicted that I will be interested in some new thing to introduce into my life by then. Anyway, I love this tradition.

Ended the evening by playing with the kids until we got them down and then playing Ticket to Ride on the computer together. What a wonderful day!

Here's the mushy part. I LOVE being married to Matt so much! He really is a good match for me. I respect and admire him so much. I feel that there is much in Matt to be emulated, and I appreciate his example, his love, and his support. Yippee!

Snnnnort

Tonight we were driving, and Amy started saying a bunch of weird things - not unusual for her. She was saying something about horses, "and Mommy have a horse and Daddy have a horse," etc. We were trying to keep up and understand what she was saying. Suddenly Amy stopped her dialogue and said "snnnnnort" (think growling.) That's what we say that snorts say. Snorts are the word in our family for any dirt-digging, bulldozing, I don't know what they are all called machines. (Snort is a good name for me to call them all too because I have no idea how to identify each different kind.) She said it because she saw one and that's what they say. We were laughing about it and telling my sister (because we knew she'd think it was funny) when Amy said, "I'm so funny." Yes, Amy. You are.
Matt then told me that earlier in the week he was in Amy's room with her, and she heard a car outside and said to him, "Lots of snorts." So funny.

Whoops

The other night Matt and I had a silly miscommunication. We decided we'd have pizza for dinner. And then we both ended up picking up the pizza, not realizing the other was going to do it. We both had reasons we thought logical that the other person would think we were going to do it. Matt even told me he was going to (on gmail chat), but I missed that. So we ended up with 3 pizzas and a crazy bread. Haha. I thought it could be a problem (because of budget), but really it was just too funny. And there wasn't anything to do about it, except laugh.

Surprise Flowers

The doorbell rang today, and I had a package from UPS. It was a beautiful bouquet of a dozen roses. Red, yellow, pink, and orange. They are SO PRETTY. I thanked Matt for them, and he was completely baffled. So we don't know who they are from. I'm SO CURIOUS. We have a few guesses, but I'm not sure.

THANK YOU if you are reading this and you sent me flowers. How fun!

(I'd take a picture if we knew where our camera was.)

Congratulations Austin and Amanda!

Our nephew, Austin got married yesterday. Congratulations to him and his cute bride. It was nice to be with the family. And thanks to our friend, Lori for watching the kids while we were in the temple. Matt almost didn't make it because his recommend had just expired which he didn't realize. Yikes! They called the bishop and let him in. After the temple, we spent some time with Lori and Hyrum. So fun! The reception was fun - loved all of her bright colors. It has been wedding time this spring! Next week is one more. Both of my brothers have sisters-in-law with weddings, my cousin, and Matt's nephew. Next week is the last one of this busy batch.

Speaking of weddings, Amy has been telling me (and all the rest of the family yesterday) that she is going to marry Rudy at the temple. Last week she proposed to him. He said yes. She also kissed him. That's my girl. Don't wait for the boys to come to you. She brings up marrying Rudy a lot. And other people who got married at the temple. Nathan and McKenzie. Matt and me. She wants us to go get married again. I told her that I would if I had it to do over again. (Of course I would. Matt's an AMAZING husband, and I love being married to him!) How we love Amy and all the cute things she says.

This Post is Going to be Entirely about the Potty - Just So You Know

It's Potty Week!!!!

We've been telling Amy for over a week that we were going to have potty week starting yesterday. I planned to not accomplish anything besides playing with my kids and working on potty stuff for these few days. That's gone pretty well. We are so impressed with Amy. Yesterday she went 4 times in her potty (and 3 times on the floor.) Today she's gone a couple times in her potty and once on the floor so far. (I'm sure you wanted to know.) She still gets diapers for naps and nighttime. A few times she has asked for a diaper, but she hasn't been too upset that I say no.

My potty training technique is mostly from my sister. Amy stays naked ALL DAY LONG. We set the timer for every 20 minutes for her to sit on the potty. Sometimes Amy stays on the potty for long periods of time just because she wants to. We watch potty movies and read potty books. We bought her "potty snacks" - all salty - on Monday and "potty drinks" so that she's thirsty and drinks a lot giving her more chances for success. It's pretty much all we talk about and do around here these days. Whenever Amy has success she gets a sticker. We are so happy with her and her progress. Yay Amy!!!

Blog Update

My sister posted on her blog the other day that she had not meant to take a break from blogging; it just sort of happened. I feel the same way. So here's what we were up to in April and the first week of May. We lost our camera right before my mom got here. She took a lot of pictures, but I haven't gotten them from her yet. I'll post some when I do.

My mom's stay here was so fun and wonderful. She hung out with her sisters a lot. THE and Melissa spent a lot of time with us. That was fabulous. I'll miss them when they go to Toronto for the summer. We helped them a little to get ready to move. Mom babysat for us a few times - that was nice. One day I got to shopping with my sister and sister-in-law as well as two cousins in Park City. So much fun. I love those ladies. I got to go to the temple a little more often than normal with Mom here trying to fit in temple times as much as possible. We helped out with my cousin, Nathan's wedding. It was a wonderful wedding, and we had a lot of fun playing with everyone. We spent one of the weekends in Logan with my brother, Andy and his family. I love getting to be with them. We got to go to Andy's concert. There were at least three times when Mom was here that some combination of us played at a playground and enjoyed mostly good weather. Hope I'm not forgetting anything - I know I really am. We miss Mom and are so glad we got to have her here.
